Eoin Reardon Wood Turning Demonstration, part of Lasta Festival 2024.

21 year old Cork Man Eoin Reardon has put Irish woodwork on the map with his videos resulting in 2.5 million TikTok followers! (@pintofplane on TikTok and Eoin Reardon on Instagram).

Eoin will be in the Siamsa Tíre round gallery on Saturday 8th June providing wood turning demonstrations, similar to his social media demonstrations. He is available for questions and advice throughout this pop-up session which visitors are free to come and go to between 10am and 4pm.

Over lockdown, Eoin filled his days by building a traditional Irish sea-going vessel known as a currach in his parents’ garden. Thus began his life’s passion: traditional carpentry. Over the last two years, he has made it his mission to learn and share as much as possible about the craft of traditional woodworking – whether it’s using a pole lathe, making a maul using only hand tools, or upcycling sugan chairs.

He currently works from his shed in Cork, dedicated to creating entertaining videos for those intrigued by the tools, techniques and skills of their ancestors.

Lasta 2024

Young Curators’ Festival 2024: A National Arts Festival by Young People for Young People which takes place between Tuesday 4th – Sunday 9th June 2024.

The Lasta Festival, based on a project originally conceived and delivered by Backstage Theatre in Longford and now in its third year, has blossomed to include venues and individual curators nationwide, and an expanding programme of exciting, multidisciplinary work.  In an innovative and exciting approach to programming, 19 young curators have been engaged by seven regional venues to programme a festival of work for young people nationwide.

Under the guidance of theatre artist Maisie Lee, these young people will work collaboratively to deliver an ambitious line up of work.  Featuring multiple disciplines and reflecting the diversity of modern Ireland, this festival offers a unique opportunity to develop our future arts programmers and producers. The line-up for this year’s festival will feature theatre, music, comedy, dance, film, photography and experiential moments promising a fresh, fun, and exciting festival.
