Dave McGilton: Musical Director-The Cable

Meet Dave McGilton – Musical Director of The Cable
Dave McGilton lives in Cork and is a full-time song writer & composer, his first break came in 1995 when Irish folk artist Frances Black recorded one of his songs called Falling Leaves. Other songs have been recorded by Daniel O’Donnell and Celtic Tenor John McDermott which led to some being released and heard in America and Canada.
Dave says that “writing is my life, it’s all I ever wanted to do, I’ve been blessed in that its brought me into contact with incredible people from all walks of life here in Ireland and across the world and I’m constantly learning and being challenged and rewarded, in all the ways that count”.
Dave has worked with The Cable Director/Dramaturg Aidan Dooley before on a number of projects over the years and says it’s fantastic to be involved on something new with him again.
It’s Dave’s first time working with The Cable Playwright/Actor Mike Kelly and he considers it to be a huge honour to have his music connected with one of his projects.
“It’s especially poignant for me that this play is Kerry based as I was born in Tralee and I spent many summers in West Kerry growing up”
All Instrumental Compositions in The Cable are written and composed by Dave McGilton. This haunting score of Irish music will be performed each night by live musicians.
Music in The Cable:
