Guthanna Idir an Dá Linn
Guthanna Idir an Dá Linn
by Kerry Palliative Care 13th-28th June 2024
The palliatively ill can struggle with feeling voiceless, marginalised and invisible. The palliative person is someone who can no longer live the life they lived before illness. They are, in their own words, in limbo, neither here nor there, not fully living and not fully dying, and they are rarely represented in society, rarely seen or heard in the public eye, but are among us every day.
This group of seven people chose the name for their group, Guthanna Idir an Dá Linn, Voices from In Between, for exactly those reasons. They are walking a territory most of us will walk, unless we die suddenly, and they have great wisdom to share with us all to educate and accompany us.
This installation was a powerful combination of seven people’s lived experience, their wisdom, their passion, their desire to be a voice for all the other voiceless, and for all of us mortal beings, to leave a legacy, to create meaning at this precious limited time of their living and their dying. It was ambitious, unique, groundbreaking, important, and urgent.
