A relaxing and creative needle felting workshop — perfect for beginners and craft lovers alike. 

Needle Felting Artist, Emily Thompson will teach the unique approach of needle felting and you will learn the tips and tricks of how to create your own landscape ‘wool painting’. In this two hour workshop Emily will introduce the materials, teach the technique of needle felting, and support everyone individually to recreate one of her ‘wool paintings’. In this workshop you will leave with your own piece and a new skill. All materials included, no experience needed.

About Emily

Emily Thompson is a needle felting artist, whose aim is to create unique artworks which connects people to the beauty of the world around them. Using locally sourced Irish wool, which is washed and dyed, Emily meticulously layers the dyed wool to create images of the beautiful Irish landscape. She uses a needle felting tool, and the required technique, which consists of matting the woolen fibers together by slowly and repetitively pushing the fibers back and forth using the sharp barbed needle tool. Following this she uses both her sewing machine, and simple needle and thread to add further texture and detail to her works. She considers her dyed wool her ‘palette’ and felting needles her ‘paintbrush’.

Emily hosts regular workshops, where she teaches the technique of needle felting and supports individuals to create their own ‘wool paintings’. Each individual leaves with a new skill and their own piece of art.  www.smallpaintings.ie/emilythompson
