Their Memory Will Endure Concert – Civil War Conference
Their Memory Will Endure concert of song, poetry and letters from the Civil War period will close out the three-day commemorative conference on Saturday 25th February. A distinguished cast from County Kerry will bring you through the events of this time, through personal accounts of loss and sacrifice, and will explore the human capacity to overcome the pain of war in order to usher in a time of peace in Ireland.
Performers include Susan Motherway, Gabriel Fitzmaurice, Róisín Ryan, Karen Trench, Mícheál Ó Sé, Dr. Fiona Brennan, Killorglin Drama Group, and a band featuring Matt Griffin on guitar, Matt Dean on flute and whistle, and Bryan O’Leary on accordian.
The animation team includes voice actors Aisling Sharkey and Tadhg O’Shea; reader Paul Pierse; dancers from the Kilcummin Over 35s Set Dancing Group; MTU Kerry Music Technology students Ella McCaffrey, Niall Malone, and Kimaya Tegtmeyer.

The three-day conference in Siamsa Tíre Tralee will mark the centenary of the Civil War and will bring together a wide range of local, national and international experts, historians and academics to discuss the conflict and its legacy. The conference will form part of the State’s Decade of Centenaries Programme for 2023 and is supported by Kerry County Council and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht Sport and Media.
