Visiting Kerry
Siamsa Tíre is located in Tralee, the county capital of Kerry, which is Ireland’s leading destination for tourists, both national and international. This means that there are so many things to do and so much entertainment for you to enjoy here in Tralee, County Kerry.
Our Venue
Siamsa Tíre is conveniently located right beside the town park, near the centre of Tralee. We have ample parking in the Brandon Car Park adjacent to the theatre. And we are fully wheelchair accessible.
Our Town
After spending a few hours in our company immersed in the folk traditions of Ireland or one of our contemporary arts events, why not take some time to explore our town and discover just what there is to see and do in Tralee?
It’s a town that is steeped in history and culture. Back in the 1500s, it was a key location in the Desmond Rebellion, when the local Fitzgerald, Fitzmaurice, and Geraldine clans took on the might of Queen Elizabeth I. In 1916, Roger Casement was captured on nearby Banna Strand, attempting to land arms from Germany for use in the Easter Rising.
If you are looking for some family fun, any time of year, Tralee is your answer.
We also have some hand-picked recommendations for you, for places to stay, and restaurants where you can enjoy the fine food and drink of our region.
Our County
Tralee is also the ideal base from which to explore the rest of Kerry. It’s the gateway to the Dingle Peninsula, with its spectacular scenery, colourful towns and villages, and ancient Irish language.
It’s half an hour from Killarney, a town that established tourism in Kerry when Queen Victoria visited it in 1861. She was charmed by the town’s attractions and its proximity to a national park renowned for its native woodlands, serene lakes, and romantic ruins of abbeys and castles.
Half an hour in the other direction, you will find Listowel, a bustling market town that is known as the literary centre of Kerry.
Here in Ireland, Kerry is known as The Kingdom and the jewel in the crown of Ireland. If you’re planning on visiting Kerry, you have a treat in store. Once you experience just how much there is to see, do, and enjoy in the county, you’ll understand why we earned our royal title.
