Oliver began his career as a performer with Siamsa Tíre – The National Folk Theatre of Ireland. He subsequently became the Artistic Director of the Company from 2000-2005, during which time he directed “Samhain – A Glimpse of the Otherworld”, “Oisín – His Legendary Journey to Tir na nÓg”, & “Oileán – Celebrating the Blasket Islands”. He has also toured Ireland, UK, Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, USA, Canada and Australia with the company.

In 2005 Oliver established his own stage school – The Oliver Hurley School of Musical Theatre – through which students from all over Kerry are trained in the disciplines of drama, singing and dance.

Oliver has received seventeen nominations at the AIMS National Awards , where he has won “Best Director” four times and has also won “Best Choreographer” award for his production of Hot Mikado with Tralee Musical Society.

In addition to his stage success, Oliver works in the events industry and was operations manager of the Rose of Tralee International Festival from 2004- 2019. He now event manages many local events including Tralee Food Festival, Christmas in Tralee and the annual St Patricks Day Parade.

Oliver is delighted to be working once again with the wonderful talent from over all Kerry in this year’s Summer Musical at Siamsa Tíre.
