Last Friday 18th November, Fr Pat Ahern launched his book, ‘Forging The Dance — A Theatrical Exploration Of The Concept Of Folk Theatre And The Birth Of Siamsa Tíre’.
The book was launched in Siamsa Tíre by Minister For Education Norma Foley followed by a celebration of Irish music and dance with members of Siamsa Tre from across the generations, including some of the founding members. The book, written in his words, details his life from his early exposure to the arts as a child in Moyvane in North Kerry, onto his years in the priesthood, how he came to found Siamsa Tíre the National Folk Theatre of Ireland, the journey it has taken him on over the years and his other involvements in the arts.
Copies of the book are still available from the Box Office at Siamsa Tíre and also available at O’Mahony’s Books in Castle Street.
