Meet the Team Behind Grease! 

Bringing the energy, heart and rock ‘n’ roll spirit of Grease to the Siamsa Tíre stage this summer is a talented creative team led by:

 Oliver Hurley – Director
 Justin Walsh – Choreographer
 Sorcha O’Connor – Musical Director

Together, they’re working with an incredible cast of local performers to bring the halls of Rydell High to life with iconic songs, unforgettable characters and plenty of summer fun. From Greased Lightnin’ and Summer Nights to You’re The One That I Want, audiences can look forward to a vibrant, feel-good production packed with music, dancing and nostalgia.

Oliver Hurley Director – Oliver began his career as a performer with Siamsa Tíre and subsequently became the Artistic Director of the Company from 2000-2005, during which time he directed “Samhain – A Glimpse of the Otherworld”, “Oisín – His Legendary Journey to Tir na nÓg”, & “Oileán – Celebrating the Blasket Islands”. He has also toured Ireland, UK, Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, USA, Canada and Australia with the company.

In 2005 Oliver established his own stage school – The Oliver Hurley School of Musical Theatre – through which students from all over Kerry are trained in the disciplines of drama, singing and dance.

Oliver has received over seventeen nominations at the AIMS National Awards, where he has won “Best Director” four times and has also won “Best Choreographer” award for his production of Hot Mikado with Tralee Musical Society.

In addition to his stage success, Oliver works in the events industry and was operations manager of the Rose of Tralee International Festival from 2004-2019. He now event manages many local events including Tralee Food Festival, Christmas in Tralee and the annual St Patricks Day Parade.

After the sell-out success of our 2024 Summer Musical The Wizard of Oz and 2023 Summer Musical Joseph, Oliver is delighted to be working once again with the wonderful talent from all over Kerry in this year’s Grease The Musical at Siamsa Tíre. 

Justin Walsh  Choreographer – Justin has been an Irish dancer since the age of five, becoming a member of Siamsa Tíre at the age of seven. He joined the full-time company in 1998, before leaving to study at the College of Dance, Dublin where he trained in ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary dance, graduating with a Diploma in Professional Dance training in 2004. He has worked with the O’Shea Irish dance company, “Emerald Beat”, and has toured with Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance, Feet of Flames and Celtic Tiger performing extensively throughout the UK, USA, Europe, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, Singapore and Taiwan. His greatest achievement – performing on stage with Michael Flatley at Madison Square Garden New York.

In 2007, he rejoined Siamsa Tíre as a full-time performer, touring with the Company to San Francisco in 2008 for a performance of the collaborative work, Siamsa Printz Dance Project. Justin currently works as The Community Engagement Manager at Siamsa Tíre.
