On Friday 13th at the Siamsa Tíre Galleries, the launch of the Open Submission Exhibition “Boundaries Real and Imagined” saw a large attendance in support of many local and Munster artists.

In September, Siamsa Tíre invited artists in the southwest of Ireland to submit works with the theme of ‘Boundaries Real and Imagined’ for an exhibition curated by Sharon Murphy. It has been our largest submission to date with over 100 pieces to choose from. The curator chose 54 pieces for inclusion in the exhibition. All artworks are unframed and are available for purchase with the collection on display until February 6th.

Catriona Fallon, Siamsa Tíre Visual Arts Curator comments, “We have had a wonderful response from artists in the south west to this year’s brief on large pieces of art paper instead of canvas. Entrants ranged from 18 up to 70 years and from new artists to semi-professionals. All of the submissions interpreted the theme in very different ways using a variety of materials, creating a very interesting exhibition for our gallery visitors.”

Siamsa Tíre Galleries are open daily and admission is free.
